STORY

I was raised by a farmer family. I remember that my families main income was selling rice products. Unfortunately, we can grow rice only 1-2 times per year during the wet season, which is in between July and October each year. Our culture and society regard weaving as a woman's leisure after their main job, rice planting or farming. This was common to all regions of the country. Product development, designs, patterns and colors are inherent of the weaver's imagination and the influence of surrounding factors.
weaving artisans
In Thailand, village women still earn family income by manually producing weaving for instance; basket, bags and more. It’s not a hobby but, it’s a skilled occupation that results in some of the finest woven products in the world. With ambition and passion to increase, these people live to preserve this incredible handcraft. With this in mind, I build KHANITRARA. I love the finest handcraft and the skilled is incredible. It is a slowly weaving process, made with care and with heart.
Meanwhile, I have seen the fashion industry become one of the biggest problems on this planate. Fast fashion is causing an environmental crisis. I am aware that on my own I could not change anything, it needs to be a movement of people, who together desire to see change. To stop using plastic is impossible, but at least we can slow down the usage. Our aim is to develop all Khanitrara’s pieces to be made from 100% sustainable products or even from recycle material. It’s essential to us to inform you and educate our customers of how our products are made. We want you to know who made your product and how your product is friendly to the environment.
